Wm. & Sarah Pierce Ensign of Peru, Mass, Settled here in the forest about 1810, Wm. died in 1838 and was among the first buried in this cemetery formerly part of his farm. He was the first Justice of the Peace of Monroe Township, elected in 1819.

The first person actually buried in this cemetery was, Judge Amos Kellogg in 1830. 

The Village of Kelloggsville derives it name from Amos & Martin Kellogg.
