The Monroe Twp. Vol. Fire Dept. was organized at the beginning of 1974 and became operational on January 1, 1975.  Several pieces of used equipment was purchased.  Before the Fire Station was built the equipment & trucks were housed in the Township Garage behind the Town Hall.

The Fire Station was built in 1979, and in the last several years the used equipment has been replaced and updated.

The Women's Auxiliary also known as the MONROE SIRENS was and still is very active in raising money to build the Station, purchase equipment & fire gear, trucks, etc...

The Fire Station is located on Rt. 7, 1/2 mile South of Monroe Ctr. Rd.

This photo was taken shortly after the shooting of 2 of the firemen.  Jim Krenisky 4th from left was shot in the lower back and Justin Tuttle 7th from left was shot in the head.  They were with  other fire members and Conneaut Station 3 Rescue Squad on an ambulance call on Hatches Corners Road, as the ambulance was backing onto the road a disturbed individual came around the squad and opened fire on the group.
.
In 2006, Justin Tuttle was elected Fire Chief.  Jim Krenisky is no longer with the department but he serves the community in other ways, as an EMT.
